We are looking forward to seeing you all.
Our teachers and Education Assistants have spent yesterday and today preparing for the return of your children. I am sure that all students will be pleased to meet their new teacher and see their friends again. Students will return next Monday 31st January.
Yesterday, an information flyer was sent out from the Department of Education to parents via Connect. This was regarding the procedures to manage the current situation for the COVID situation. Please read this as it will inform you about the high degree of readiness of the Department and South Coogee Primary School for the year ahead.
We would encourage you to drop your child off outside their room and maintain social distancing and mask wearing in line with current Health Department instructions. Teachers will be writing to parents to introduce themselves after they have settled their classes and to keep you updated with any information for you.
All children are expected to wear the school uniform, or plain navy shirts or pants/skirts/track suits/jumpers. School or plain navy hats must be worn. There are bucket hats available through the uniform ordering site and there are limited number of second hand caps available for sale in the front office. Coloured hats are not suitable. We make this rule because of the introduction of unsuitable logos or patterns on other hats.
Two weeks of swimming will be on for Years 3-6 from Week 5, 28th February. Students will be doing their swimming lessons at Coogee Beach.
ICT – Years K-2 will have access to I Pads and Years 3-6 will be involved in a BYOD program. If your child does not have their own device, the school has some which are for the use of children.
A Third Party Consent Form for the use of ICT will be sent home soon for you to sign. It lets you know what Apps your teachers will be using in the classroom and seeks agreement from you and your child (depending on their age) for appropriate use of the internet and devices. Your child will not have access until this form is returned and this access will be very important for their learning.
We know this will be another productive and happy year at South Coogee Primary.
