Summer Interschool Carnival

Congratulations to our 49 competitors that participated in the T-20 Cricket and Tag-Rugby carnivals last Thursday, 28th March.  The carnival was played in great weather conditions, being a pleasant and warm day.

Results from the day were:

The A grade boy’s cricket team won their Division of the 2019 Woolworths Blast School Cup.  It is their 2nd year in a row as the victorious school at the Cockburn District carnival.  The B grade boy’s cricket team came 4th and had a great carnival.  The A grade girl’s cricket team came 3rd in their division, which was a wonderful effort.

Many thanks to the team Captains and Vice Captains, being Max Orzanski, Joshua James, Bryce Vost, Zidane Baker, Kori Rainey and Shanae Randall.  These students did a magnificent job on the day and in preparing the players for the Carnival throughout term 1.

There was great sportsmanship demonstrated throughout the day and all of our competitors had a lot of fun during the competition.  It was my pleasure to be their teacher and coach throughout the entire day.  It was a very, very busy carnival.  Thank you to Mr Vost (Grandparent) for all of your valuable help and support on the day.  We all thank you for coming and for your expertise.  Our 2019 winning pennant and our participating school pennant are on display in the front office.

The boy’s A cricket team is now invited to the term 4 State Regional finals to be played later this year.  This is our 2nd year in a row to achieve these standards.  More information regarding the finals will follow.

A huge thank you to Mr Wheatley for all his help and support in taking our two mixed teams to the Tag Rugby carnival at Hotbush Park in South Lake.  Our 2 teams performed very admirably and had a great day of fun and participation.  South Coogee PS came 5th overall for the day.  Many students came to see me about the friendly competition and what a terrific day they had.  Well done to all concerned, especially the Captains and Vice Captains, and especially Mr Wheatley for all his continued efforts.  Great to see our students so … happy!
