Teachers at South Coogee Primary School understand the importance of seamlessly integrating technology into their everyday classroom practice. This is achieved through a whole school approach to delivering the ICT General Capability and the Technologies Curriculum.
Each classroom is fitted with the latest innovative technology. This includes desktop computers, an Interactive Whiteboard and a bank of iPads. Students also have access to NXT and EV3 Mindstorms Robotics equipment, Dash and Dot robots, a bank of Rasberry Pi’s, Sphero robots, Bee Bots and a DJI Phantom Pro 4 drone. In addition, we also have a BYOD (bring your own device) program in place for students from Years’ 3-6. To find out more about BYOD please click here.
We also run a Coder-Dojo program on Monday afternoon (after school) for interested students. This is aimed at extending their digital competency through a structured coding program that is providing our students with an engaging experience that develops their ability to become proficient 21st century digital citizens.
The use of technology is an integral part of learning across all areas. This is assisted by our ICT Coordinator, who works one day a week in classrooms supporting students in their use of ICT.
