Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood area consists of:

  • 3 x Kindergarten classes
  • 3 x Pre-Primary classes
  • 2 x Year One classes
  • 3 x Year Two classes

In Term 3, 2017 we had an external verification of the National Quality Standards (NQS) conducted by the Office of Early Childhood Development and Learning. We were delighted to be informed that we met all 7 Quality Areas for NQS. This is testament to the hard work and dedication of our early childhood education (ECE) staff in providing high quality education programs for your children.

All staff collaboratively plan based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines (Kindergarten only) and the Western Australian Curriculum. Staff focus on explicit teaching (what needs to be taught), intentional teaching (activities with focused intention), in a play based ‘hands on’ environment. Activities are based on the children’s needs and interests.

The Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines guide our teachers in developing a kindergarten program that meets the individual needs of your children. The guidelines draw on the key ideas from the EYLF, promoting high quality teaching, learning and assessment practices. The 5 Outcomes of the EYLF are:

  • IDENTITY – Children have a strong sense of identity.
  • CONNECTING and CONTRIBUTING – Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
  • WELLBEING – Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • LEARNING and THINKING – Children are confident and involved learners.
  • COMMUNICATING – Children are effective communicators.

Social and emotional development is an important part of our Early Childhood Philosophy, it is our aim to guide your children to develop a positive sense of identity and well-being by providing high quality education programs. All Students in K-2 have opportunities to develop their knowledge and understandings in the English, Mathematics, the Arts (Music & Visual Art), Health and Physical Education (inclusive of fundamental movement skills and game play), Humanities and Social Sciences, Languages (Indonesian Year 2), Science, Design Technologies and Digital Technologies.

We encourage families to visit our school and see the great experiences offered daily to our students.
