Early Childhood

Our Early Childhood area consists of: three Kindergarten classes; one Pre Primary, one Pre Primary/Year 1, two Year 1 classes, one Year 1/2 class and two Year 2 classes. We were recently subjected to an external verification from the Office of Early Childhood Development and Learning for the National Quality Standard (NQS). We were delighted to be informed that we meet all 7 Quality Areas for NQS, which is testament to the hard work and dedication from our staff in early childhood to achieving the best education for our students.

All staff collaboratively plan based on the Early Years Learning Framework and the Western Australian Curriculum. Staff focus on explicit teaching (what needs to be taught), intentional teaching (activities with focused intention), in a play based ‘hands on’ environment. Activities are based on the children’s needs and interests. The curriculum focuses on: Literacy, Numeracy and Socio-Emotional Development. Students also learn about Science, History, and Digital Technologies.

Health and Well-Being is integral to a holistic program and our students have over two hours of physical movement and instruction in Fundamental Movement Skills and Games Skills per week with our two specialist staff.

Our school also offers an excellent Arts program that is varied and inspiring. Weekly displays are in our office for viewing and enjoyment.

Some of our classes are multi-aged which means there is more than one year level in the class. We believe this encourages and fosters academic and social development. Multi-Age Grouping Information.

We encourage families to visit our school and see the great experiences offered daily to our students.
