I am writing this blog for our community whilst Mrs Beard is on her well-deserved long service leave overseas.
ANZAC Day Service
Today we had a very moving ANZAC Day ceremony in front of our new flag poles and some amazing art work. I would like to thank Mrs Kay Cleak OAM from the Cockburn RSL for once again attending and imparting her vast knowledge on ANZAC Day to our students. I would also like to acknowledge the student leaders who prepared and spoke very well at today’s service. Yesterday our Year 6 students attended the Cockburn City’s annual ANZAC Day service. This service is attended by all schools in the City of Cockburn and is always a very moving event. Last but not least, I would like to thank our amazing art specialist Mrs Bux, who prepared our wreaths for both events and also ensured the students art work was proudly displayed throughout the ceremony.
This year our Year 3 and 5 students will participate in NAPLAN testing online for the first time. Over the last two weeks, these students have been busy getting familiar with the platform in a series of practice tests. Overall it has been pleasing to report that the testing was a success and students will be ready for the ‘real thing’ in Term 2.
We are currently in the process of replacing our interactive whiteboards in all our classrooms. Over the school holidays, we will have seven state-of-the-art Promethean ActivPanels installed across the school. We had seven boards installed last year as well. Teachers and students are really impressed with the new technology and the innovative functionality they possess to maximise learning outcomes for students.
On behalf of everyone at South Coogee Primary School, have a happy and safe Easter holiday period. We look forward to welcoming you all back at school on Tuesday 30 April 2019.
