We are expecting around 480 students in 2019. Our school is growing!
70 parents have had a say about their child’s school. Thank you to those of you who completed the survey. This survey is a standard one which we access through the Department of Education. The average rating for all questions was 4.0 or above out of 5, and the highest number of people who strongly disagreed for any question was 3 out of the 70. This result is extremely pleasing and reflects the hard work done by our staff. There was also a staff and student survey completed, and these will be used, together with your parent responses in our future planning.
Level 3 Teacher – Congratulations to Wren Duce The Department of Education has written to us to say the following:
Congratulations to your school community on Mrs Lorrena Duce‘s achievement of Level 3 Classroom Teacher status. This is a rigorous assessment process for applicants, and you and your school are congratulated for the support you have provided to Lorrena. The primary role of the Level 3 Classroom Teacher is of an instructional nature, modelling high standards of
teaching in the classroom and continually improving professional teaching practice.
Congratulations to Mrs Duce
The P&C have agreed to fund an outdoor table tennis table using funds raised this year. Thank you to families who have contributed to any fundraising activities. Special thanks go to all those P&C and community members who have helped organise the range of activities during the year.
Outdoor Learning Day and Count Us In
Have a look at the video of our students singing and playing. This was a great story by Cockburn Gazette.
The Sustainability Fair provides the children with the opportunity to use recycled and found objects to plan for, and produce articles for sale. This develops their enterprise skills and gives them practice in handling their own money and giving change. It is indeed a fabulous learning opportunity and the children love all these aspects. The Fair also raises funds for yellow top bins and other sustainability initiatives. This year, over $1000 was raised.
Boxes for Soldiers
Our school is being noticed out there in the wider community. We are very proud that we are supporting the men and women who are serving overseas. Thanks to Coastlands 2 for this initiative and our community for supporting it. This article is on Cockburn Gazette Facebook and also on the Department of Education Facebook page.
Congratulations to our Senior Boys and Girls Cricket teams that played at the WACA Woolworths Cricket Blast Primary Schools Regional/ State Finals at Yokine Reserve last Thursday 8th November. It was a very sunny and warm day full of exciting cricket action from our two teams that previously won their Cockburn District School Sports Association Carnival at Murdoch Playing fields. This got them to these championships. It certainly was very competitive and the next level cricket conducted at a Primary School level. The Girls played in Pool 5 South East/ South West division. The Boys in Pool 4 being the South West Metro division.
All of our players were a credit to their school and displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the entire day. They had a lot of fun! Both teams finished 4th place in their respective divisions. Best players on this day as voted by the captains and vice-captains of the two teams were Ela Zelenika, Jessica Simich, Riley Young and Ka-Lel Wilson-Allen. Well done to all our players.
A big thank you to Mr Gotti whom assisted me throughout the day. Also, thanks to the 6-8 parents that came that distance to support our two school teams.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Colour Run. It was a fantastic afternoon of fun. All money has now been collected and prizes have been sent home with the children. We managed to raised $11 230.25. Once all of the prizes, powder, glasses etc. were paid for, we received approximately $6331, which is a fantastic effort. This money was donated to the school at the last P&C meeting.
A special mention to C5 for raising a total of $1325 for our school. A huge congratulations to Jack Petkovic from C2 who was our highest individual fundraiser. Jack raised an amazing $510.
Book Club Issue 8 will be sent home with each child. If you would like extra copies they are kept in the library,
next to the order box or check it out online. Book Club is due: Tuesday 20th November.
Christmas and school holidays are not too far away! Grab some great books for gifts. Scholastic offer a “gift” option, which means your order can be given to the office for pick up instead of being sent to the student’s classroom.
We are a Loop School offering linked online ordering payments. This means you can order online & pay via credit card & you don’t need to bring in the paper order to school! You still have the option to pay by cash. These orders need to be placed into the scholastic mail box in the library in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and class on it by the due date.
Thank you for ordering books from scholastic. Each order earns rewards which is spent renewing teacher resources and new books for the library.
