New library furniture is now in place. We are working on brightening up the library to make it an attractive place for your children to visit. This is a work in progress. Please feel free to visit the library to have a look.

Year 5 students in W1 have been working with their Year 1 buddies with Lego We Do and over the past weeks have created some amazing constructions.

We look forward to the holidays providing time for students and teachers to recover from the range of illnesses which Winter brings. You might hear them say – “I’m bored!” While your children might ask you to do, and to pay for, activities with them, this is a valuable time to encourage them to entertain themselves; to be creative, to read, to play outdoors with friends, to construct, to cook with you, to play board games. There is no cost but much value in children engaging with these activities.

Congratulations to all concerned with last Thursday 20th June Cockburn District Winter Lightning Carnival results. South Coogee PS were winners in the Soccer and the Minkey Hockey.

Well done to Mr McNamara and Mr Wheatley for your super efforts. Our team members were very excited and proud of their achievements. Their trophies are on display in the front office for all to see.

Congratulations, also to our Netball and Australian Rules football teams. Netball B & C came Runners- Up and the football team placed third. So, a big thank you to Ms Barnes, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Cladwiger for all your valuable training and expertise given to our three Netball teams. Well done to our fabulous Sport teachers yet again in 2019. Of the four disciplines of sport at these Carnivals South Coogee PS won half of them! A terrific effort from all concerned!

The year ones visited our local Coles to enhance our learning on our current topic. We met the butcher, the deli and went into the bakery. We have learnt the story ‘The Little Red Hen’ in talk for writing and have now started procedures, with our first one focusing on crossing the road.
