I have had the privilege of being a School Board member since the beginning of the year. It has been an absolute pleasure to share the journey of South Coogee Primary School Community. Our recent meeting discussed many positive aspects happening throughout the school.
Analysis of the 2017 NAPLAN results across the Business Plan Targets showed that Year 5 students in the Reading assessments progressed with ‘higher achievement, higher progress’ compared to ‘like schools’.
The Nature playground is underway and is hopefully completed by the end of November, to ensure that the Year 6 students can experience the exciting new area prior to the end of the year. We hope to get an array of mature trees and saplings planted over the coming months.
The Pre-Kindy run by Yangebup Family Centre on Tuesdays, has been a huge success with up to 21 children attending. The children have been experiencing a structured routine in preparation for Kindergarten. This includes a story session with songs and rhymes, followed by planned indoor activities, outdoor time, healthy snack and news sharing. The enthusiasm throughout the group is invigorating!
National Quality Standards
South Coogee Primary School has recently been assessed according to the National Quality Standard Framework. It met the standards in all areas and is a credit to the School and Early Childhood Team.
The recent Carnival has revealed positive feedback about the great sportsmanship throughout the team games. Well done to all the students, staff and parents who participated and supported the event.
It is wonderful to see so many ‘Catch me at my best’ slips, recognising some of the wonderful contributions the Staff has made to the school. Please feel free to collect a slip from the office and add to our wall of appreciations, of the amazing work our teachers are doing throughout the school.
