Our blog is now called ‘AIR’.  We have given it this name to relate to our motto Achieve, Inspire, Respect.  As usual, your school is a very busy and exciting place for your children to be learning.

Remembrance Day
What a lovely Remembrance Day ceremony we had on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month on Monday. Your children were absolutely outstanding and indeed seemed to feel the reverence of the day. The choir reminded us singing Imagine, that by remembering our armed forces and the Armistice, we look forward to peace in the world.

Joining with schools across Australia
Outdoor Learning Day was held and the song We Are was sung in schools across Australia. The school sang together and shared the message in Auslan (sign language). Our Rock Band and Year 6 students entertained the school as well. Your children then did their normal learning outdoors, with the added advantage of being able to use the outdoor environment to add value to their learning.

I want to make mention of the P&C and their hard work in getting the Disco up and running on Friday night. It is an enormous job and involved 20 volunteers making sure the children were safe and had a good time. We were pleased to be able to provide support to this group in the organisation for the disco. Children report they had a great time.

The Sustainability Fair was held on Tuesday. I saw some very interesting projects using recycled materials and much imagination. The children had an enjoyable learning experience. This is one of few opportunities for them to actually use coins and to develop their enterprise skills. $1102 was the total raised, and this money goes directly to our whole school Sustainability program to fund our yellow top bins.

Christmas Hampers
Your South Coogee Primary School has a tradition of giving and this year we are collecting for Christmas hampers again. Please bring any non-perishable items to the front office which you are able to donate for those who need our assistance to have a good Christmas.

Sports News
A huge congratulations to our 49 competitors at the Cockburn District Inter- School Athletics Carnival at Santich Park on Friday 8th November. It was a very warm day and all our students performed to a very high standard.

South Coogee Primary School came Runners Up in both the Outright and Meritorious- Handicap Shields. A truly great result from our competing students. It was very pleasing to hear and see so many of our parents cheering our team and their efforts.

Particular thanks to Mrs Anderson, Ms Barnes, Mr Scott and our two student teachers for all your valuable help and support throughout the entire day. Thank you also to Mr Wingell, for helping me to pack up our shade shelters and equipment at the end of the Carnival.

Another huge congratulations to Viola Arangio and Isaiah Wingell, for achieving the medallions for Senior Girls & Senior Boys Runner-Up champions at the Carnival. Well done to you both!
