Above is the South Coogee’s Art Installation of the Wagul at Coles Beeliar. Thanks to all the students and Mrs Bux for all your hard work.
The Lockdown this week has certainly caused disruption to our planned parent involvement. We have, however managed to maintain an interesting program for our children.
Edu-Dance Concert
Edu-Dance on Tuesday was performed for the whole school so that students in Year 2,4 and 6 had a real, and very appreciative audience. I have suggested to teachers of these classes that they run the video of the performance before and after school on their interactive board so that parents can see the enjoyment on the children’s faces and how hard they have worked. We are unable to put the videos on the web because some children do not have parental permission for this. I am however sharing some lovely photos with you all.
PBS Faction Reward Disco
Faction reward day on Wednesday saw Green Goannas having a great time at the reward disco. This was a result of good behaviour throughout the term which earned the Goannas the most tokens for their faction. While our NAIDOC assembly had to be postponed till the first Thursday next term it was an exciting day.
Pyjama Day
Pyjama Day on Thursday was enjoyed by all including the staff! It was a good day to keep warm in cosy pyjamas and dressing gowns while raising funds for the ECE Nature Playground. This was organised by our Student Representatives who are maturing into great young leaders.
Semester 1 Reports
Reports were sent out yesterday via CONNECT. Teachers will discuss reports in Term 3 with any parents who wish to do so. We were told that during Lockdown meetings with parents are not allowed. We were also told that parents should only be on school site to drop off and pick up their children. If you were asked to leave your child, and to exit the grounds, it was because it was a government instruction to keep us all safe.
Learning Journey Term 3 Week 8 – half day close
Learning Journeys will be held in Week 8 on the afternoon of 8th September beginning at 11:45am. Children will be preparing to discuss their work with you and will be excited to show you their rooms. If you have been asked in reports to make a meeting with your child’s teacher, or if, during the term you want to discuss your child’s work, please make an appointment to do so. Teachers can therefore prepare information and make sure the meeting is a valuable one.
W4 Talk 4 Writing Poetry Unit
Year 2s in W4 have spent the last couple of weeks working hard on their T4W Poetry Unit. Using the text “The Magic Box” students innovated their own poems and then published them on Pic Collage using the iPads. We were amazed by their efforts and we are sure you will be too! Pictured below are three of our budding poets Evi, Braxton and Savannah.
School resumes on Tuesday 20th July for students. Teachers will be having a Professional Learning and planning day on the Monday.
I want to thank our whole school community for a very rewarding term. All staff have taken this challenging week in their stride, even though it is the last of an extra long 11 week term. Students seem to be growing like weeds, and have generally shown the maturity and application required for success. Parents and volunteers in our school continue to provide support and contribute to this being the wonderful school it is.
Have a wonderful holiday with your children. We hope that we are all able to go about our business safely and have a restful holiday.
