School closes for children on Thursday afternoon. Teachers will be working on Friday.
School resumes for students on Monday February 3rd. The school office will be open from 28th January. Students’ classes will be sent via Connect on Friday January 31st. As usual, classes will be confirmed at the beginning of Week 3 due to changes which may occur through new enrolments or students leaving the school.
Student reports went home via Connect today. Please look for them. Let the office know if you do not have access to a device to read them.
Support to troops for Christmas
Around 30 boxes were sent to troops overseas who will be away for Christmas. Thank you to all parents who supported this great initiative.
The Celebration Assembly was a great ending to our year, full of joy and lovely singing by classes and through the whole school songs. There was a huge crowd of parents and friends attending. Book awards were presented to each class and for outstanding behaviour or academic achievement. Congratulations to all students for their awards.
Our Year 6 students graduated yesterday. They were presented with their Graduation Certificates, and a special school pen. They also received a Year book produced independently by two Year 6 students. Thank you to Zidane Baker and Kori Rainey for your creative work and ICT expertise in doing this for your friends. Awards were presented to outstanding students, hampers collected from our community were presented to the Lions Club and the Year 6 students presented two lovely fruit trees to the school. Our school choir dedicated a song to the Year 6 students. Our Year 6 students impressed us all with their song and dancing. Thank you to Ms Barnes and Ms Tyrie for preparing them.
As part of the tradition here, the Year 5 students hosted the morning tea. Thank you to the Year 5 parents for supporting this. It will be the Year 5’s turn next year to be honored guests. There is a lovely photo of our stage and some kind words on Facebook from one of our guests who support our awards, Councillor Chontelle Stone representing the City of Cockburn.
Our Christmas hampers are done! Thank you a million times over to our wonderful parents for donating a tremendous amount of goodies! Our hearts became so full as we put these together. We know those that receive these baskets will have their buckets filled, too.
New Student Representatives
Congratulations to our new Student Representatives who were presented with their badges in a handover ceremony at the Graduation.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and holiday period to you all from all the staff here at South Coogee.
