From The Principal

We are pleased to have all your beautiful children back safely after the holidays.

Chaplain
This term we are very fortunate to have Caroline Bouwman as our new Chaplain. She will be with us every day this term, so please say hello to her. She will be running Breakfast Club on Monday and Wednesday mornings this term. She is also available in classrooms and at recess and lunch to chat with your children.  If you would prefer she doesn’t speak one on one with your child, please advise the teacher.

Thank you
A warm thank you to the volunteers who have been running the Breakfast Club for the children on Wednesdays, especially to Ms Jarra Hofner-Mellman whose children are soon leaving our school.

Staff
Mr Bushe-Jones is continuing as Principal at Southwell Primary School, so Mr McNamara and Mrs Duce will also continue to share the Deputy Principal position this term. While Mrs Sputore will continue in Year 3, we have Ms Pershouse who has been a regular relief teacher here, sharing the teaching program in Year 6. She tells me that she is looking forward to helping the Year 6 classes with their lead up to Graduation. Ms Barnes will be absent for the next two weeks Mrs Rebecca Hadwinger will fill in during her absence. Mr Gough will be on Long Service Leave from week five and Ms Yvonne Williams will be filling his position.

AIEO
The school is advertising for an Aboriginal Islander Education Officer (AIEO). Details are available from the office.

Parent Survey
At South Coogee we think that we can work better if we work with parents in their child’s education. Last year nearly 80 families assisted us to improve our school and took the time to tell us what we do well. Please take the opportunity to respond to this survey. 55 parents have already responded. It is open till the 1st November for your responses. We use the information gathered to plan for 2020.
